Where to Eat Fish in Kaş on a Budget
Cheap seafood in Kaş does exist; it just doesn’t sit on the seafront. Walk a couple of streets inland, into Andifli’s back streets, and you find family-run fish houses like ours, Etna Fish House on Öztürk Street, where a grilled mackerel sandwich costs 590 TL, a whole sea bass portion 980 TL, and the salad bar is free. The fish comes out of the same sea as everywhere else in town. What you’re not paying for is the view.
Many visitors to Kaş say the same thing: “Beautiful, but pricey.” With its sea-view terraces and boutique restaurants, Kaş can feel like an expensive destination. But eating fresh fish on a budget is absolutely possible — you just need to know where to look.
Why does Kaş seem expensive?
Most restaurants in Kaş are built around views, location and fine dining. Sitting on a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean comes at a price. But the fish itself isn’t expensive — the difference is location and presentation.
High season does its part too. In July and August the town fills up and front-row tables are priced accordingly, while the same grilled fish costs noticeably less one street back.
Tips for cheap seafood in Kaş
- Choose a fish sandwich. Instead of a full portion, a fish sandwich is far more economical and filling. At Etna Fish House ours start from 590 TL.
- Ask for the catch of the day. In-season, freshly landed fish is both the tastiest and the best value.
- Pick places with a free salad bar. Side dishes inflate the bill; where the salad bar is complimentary, your total stays lower.
- Look at the back streets. Family-run spots away from the seafront terraces are usually more affordable.
The sandwich tip surprises people, so it deserves one more line. Our fish wrap is grilled mackerel rolled into lavash with lettuce and onion, made the same way every day, and at 590 TL it eats like a full meal. Add an ayran for 90 TL and lunch stays under 700 TL.

Where Etna Fish House fits in
Etna Fish House is our family’s restaurant in Andifli, Kaş, on Öztürk Street (next to Upper House Hotel), a few minutes on foot from the harbour square. There is no sea view at the tables; what we have is a quiet back street, tables out on it, and a kitchen that spends its money on fish rather than on the postcode. Here is what a budget meal looks like on our June 2026 menu:
| Order | Price (June 2026) |
|---|---|
| Fish wrap or mackerel sandwich | 590 TL |
| Whiting or mussel sandwich | 640 TL |
| Grilled mackerel or sardine portion | 740 TL |
| Grilled sea bass or sea bream portion | 980 TL |
| Salad bar | Free |
Prices can change with the season, so check the current menu before you plan. Tea and a small Turkish sweet after the meal are on the house as well, and the salad bar gets refilled all evening without ever appearing on the bill. If you’re two people, one grilled portion and one sandwich between you, plus the salad bar, makes a real dinner.
A practical note for July and August: we’re open every day from 11:00 to midnight, and the street tables fill up after 20:00, so it’s worth calling ahead for dinner.
