Where to Eat in Kaş, Turkey: A Local Family's 2026 Guide

Grilled sea bass portion at Etna Fish House, Kaş

Where to eat in Kaş, in one sentence: two streets inland, not on the harbour row. Andifli’s back streets hold the family-run fish houses where the day’s catch goes on the grill and the bill stays sane. At our place, Etna Fish House on Öztürk Street 17, a grilled mackerel sandwich is 590 TL, a whole sea bass portion 980 TL, and the salad bar costs nothing. Too many guests find us on their last evening; this guide is so you don’t.

How to spot the best seafood restaurant in Kaş

Start with one question: what came in today? A good fish house gives you a short answer, and now and then a surprising one. Not long ago a guest asked for sardines; we told her they hadn’t come in fresh that morning and offered mackerel instead. She mentioned that honesty in her review, which made our week. If it’s not fresh, we don’t sell it, and any place worth your evening works the same way. A restaurant willing to lose a sale over freshness is a restaurant you can trust with everything else on the menu.

Two more signals. Prices should be written down where you can see them before you sit. And the free extras say a lot: a salad bar or an after-dinner tea on the house means the kitchen isn’t planning to win the bill back on side dishes.

Where to eat in Kaş, Turkey, by time of day

Lunch wants to be quick. This is fish-sandwich territory: grilled mackerel in fresh bread, ready in ten minutes, eaten at a street table in the shade with a cold ayran. Save the long, slow meal for the evening; the midday heat in July doesn’t reward it.

Sunset belongs to the sea-view terraces. They’re genuinely lovely, and you pay for the loveliness; that’s a fair trade if the view is the point of your evening. For dinner itself, we’d point you (predictably, but honestly) toward the back streets, where family kitchens compete on fish rather than on location. Locals sit down late, mostly after 20:00; arrive at 18:30 and you’ll have the street nearly to yourself.

Do you need a reservation?

In July and August, a phone call is worth it for dinner after 20:00; the street tables go first. The rest of the year you can usually walk in. We’re open every day from 11:00 to midnight. One call to +90 531 402 04 04 does the job: say if you want a street table, and ask what the day’s catch is while you’re at it.

Who we are (and what we’re not)

Let’s be upfront: there is no sea view at our tables. Etna Fish House sits tucked between houses on Öztürk Street, next to Upper House Hotel, a few minutes’ walk from the harbour square. Guests keep writing that they almost walked past us, which sounds like a complaint and reads like a compliment.

What we do have: fish chosen eye by eye at the market each morning, a salad bar our guests mention more often than the fish, an owner who still stops by every table, and a 4.8 Google rating across more than 900 reviews as of this July. If that sounds like your kind of evening, you now know which street to turn into.
